A fire service upgrade retrofitted through a live, trading multi-level Sydney CBD retail building, including a new Harrington Street water main connection.
Project Overview

Background & Context
Goldman Plumbing was contracted to undertake a major Fire System upgrade within the Galeries Building, a retail and commercial tenancy building in Sydney's CBD.
The Engineering Challenge
This project required Goldman Plumbing to retro fit extensive fire service infrastructure throughout the established building whilst being tenanted and trading to the public.
A new water main connection in Harrington Street was required that included service location, footpath excavation, pedestrian traffic management and footpath restoration.
At street level, Goldman Plumbing fabricated and installed a new Hydrant Booster valve assembly.
Structured Delivery Approach
A 10,000L storage tank and a hydrant diesel booster pump were installed within the building. Electronic fire service monitoring equipment, indicator lights and tank level alarms were also supplied and installed as required.
Ceilings were removed and re-instated within retail stores and commercial tenancies as required to complete the installation of fire hydrant pipework throughout the building as specified. These works were executed outside of normal business hours.
Goldman Plumbing flow tested and commissioned the system upon completion as required.
Final Handover & Results
This project highlights Goldman Plumbing's expertise in managing logistically complex projects within agreed timelines and budgets.
